Rich Webb

Owner/Master Instructor

Rich Webb is the founder and driving force behind Blue Ethos Specialized Training & Security, a company built on one core belief: preparation, leadership, and sound decision-making save lives. Today, Rich leads nationwide training initiatives in Active Threat Preparedness, De-escalation, Situational Awareness, and oversees professional security guard and protective services for corporate, institutional, and faith-based clients.

Blue Ethos is known for delivering practical, human-centered solutions—whether in the classroom, on-site during high-risk operations, or through a professional security presence. Under Rich’s leadership, the company bridges the gap between training and real-world application, helping organizations reduce risk while protecting people with professionalism and discretion.

Law Enforcement Experience & Leadership

Rich brings 18 years of law enforcement experience into every aspect of Blue Ethos. He served as a Police Sergeant in a metropolitan Minnesota police department and held numerous specialized roles throughout his career, including:

  • Certified Crisis Hostage Negotiator

  • Field Training Officer

  • Active Shooter Instructor

  • Mobile Field Force Lead

  • Sergeant and Program Supervisor

In addition to frontline leadership, Rich oversaw his department’s Field Training Program, Mobile Field Force, and Use of Force programs, shaping both tactical readiness and leadership culture within the organization.

Recognized Service Under Pressure

In 2014, Rich was awarded the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Medal of Honor for his actions during an officer-involved shooting on the steps of a daycare facility. The incident became a defining moment in his career and reinforced the importance of decision-making, preparation, and leadership under extreme stress.

Rich also received formal recognition for his leadership and actions during the 2020 civil unrest and riots in Minneapolis, where he played a key role in managing large-scale public order operations during one of the most challenging periods in modern policing.

Speaker & Thought Leader

Rich is a sought-after speaker who draws directly from his career experiences to connect leadership principles with real-world consequences. His keynote, “Lead Like a Hero: Why the Small Moments Matter Most,” challenges audiences to rethink leadership—not as grand gestures, but as consistent, disciplined decisions made long before crisis strikes.

Through his speaking, training, and security leadership, Rich helps organizations understand that heroism is rarely accidental—it is built through preparation, culture, and accountability.

Today at Blue Ethos

Whether leading executive teams through critical preparedness training, supporting organizations during high-risk terminations, providing executive protection, or deploying professional security personnel, Rich remains focused on one outcome: building safer people, stronger leaders, and more resilient organizations.
